Italy authorises three companies to cultivate cannabis

Following the question for immediate answer by the Honourable Marcello GEMMATO, the Undersecretary for Health, Andrea COSTA, replied that measures have been taken to remedy the lack of therapeutic cannabis.
Specifically, in addition to opening a round table with the most representative patient associations, an agreement is being drawn up with the Ministry of Defence to expand production at the military chemical pharmaceutical plant in Florence.
It was also stated that three farms have been authorised to produce industrial hemp ‘for subsequent delivery of the plants to companies authorised by AIFA and the Central Narcotics Office for the industrial production of cannabidiol from extraction.
